In this tutorial you will learn how to update WizardPanel to the latest version.
Is This Update Required?
We recommend keeping WizardPanel up to date to take advantage of the latest features and WHMCS compatibility. You can confirm your current version within the System tab of your options panel. The latest WizardPanel is v3.6.
Will I Loose Customisations Made To My Website?
You shouldn't lose any custimizations as long as you follow the update steps.
How To Update
You will need to follow every step below to update WizardPanel.
Updates & Support Access
An active WizardPanel Updates & Support subscription is required to download the latest version and receive ongoing updates and support.
1. Upload & Replace The WizardPanel Files

The first step is to upload the latest WizardPanel files to replace the existing.
Steps To Upload
1. Make a full backup of your WHMCS files & database for safety
2. Download the latest ZIP which is WizardPanel for WHMCS 3.6 > Download Guide
3. Extract the ZIP file to your desktop
4. Open the upload directory:
/upload/
5. Double check the containing files as per the guide on the right.
6. Upload the contents of this directory using an FTP client to:
/whmcs_path/
This will update WizardPanel and all designs to the latest version.
Ensure that your FTP client does not replace directories and instead adds/overrides the new files within the existing directory. We recommend FileZilla which is free and will work correctly out of the box.
We recommend checking the files of the ZIP to double check you haven't customized the version on your live website. If you have make a note of the customizations so you can re-apply them to the new version.
Safe Customizations
WizardPanel settings will be safe from updates.
Service Pages: If you have re-named service pages be sure to match the same re-names to the root PHP files and your active design directory. Essentially follow the guide for the ZIP to match your live website prior to uploading.
Language Customizations: Make sure customizations to your language content are using overrides.
CSS Changes: Ensure any modified CSS is using custom.css.
2. Visit The Options Panel
The next step is to visit options panel under:
WHMCS Admin > Addons > WizardPanel
The update will automatically run. You may or may not see a update notice appear depending on the version.
3. Version Specific
When updating there may be certain version specific steps to follow. You will need to complete these steps when jumping versions. For example updating from v3.5 to v3.8 means you will need to follow the steps of v3.6, v3.7 and then v3.8 in order. Double check your version below before moving on:
Latest Release: v3.6
This version is a big restructure going from templates with WizardPanel to WizardPanel framework with designs.
Update Steps
1. When visiting the options panel you will need to add your license key. This is your existing license key used for the prior version.
2. We have moved the location of the language files to design specific directories and added overrides support. For example if you're using Prosper with French and English you would need to move:
/whmcs_path/modules/addons/zomex_template_manager/lang/english.php
/whmcs_path/modules/addons/zomex_template_manager/lang/french.php
to:
/whmcs_path/modules/addons/zomex_template_manager/lang/prosper/overrides/
The overrides directory will need to be created. Language files in this directory are not effected by future updates. You can optionally remove any content within your language files that not been edited from the default as it will be pulled from the master language file /lang/prosper/english.php. So the overrides directory is perfect for only containing your customized language content.
3. Optionally you can remove old files and directories no longer used:
/whmcs_path/modules/addons/zomex_template_manager/libs/ (changed to assets)
/whmcs_path/modules/addons/zomex_template_manager/elements/
/whmcs_path/modules/addons/zomex_template_manager/defaults.php
/whmcs_path/modules/addons/zomex_template_manager/functions.php
/whmcs_path/modules/addons/zomex_template_manager/settings.php
Once you have updated to v3.6 using your existing license key please submit a ticket to request a WizardPanel license key. It's a simple case of replacing your license in WizardPanel. Having the new product within your Zomex accounts will give you better control and access to addons.
4. Update Completed
You have now finished updating WizardPanel and all designs to v3.6. If you see any miss alignment when viewing your website you may need to clear your browser cache to force the updated files to be rendered. If you run into any issues, submit a ticket and we will be happy to assist you.
